Scalloped Potatoes with Gruyere image

Rich delicious side dish.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tube(s) butter
3 clove garlic minced
2 lb yellow potatoes peeled
2 c half and half
1 Tbsp fresh thyme minced
salt and pepper
1/4 tsp nutmeg grated
1 c grated gruyere cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Rub 1 tbsp. butter inside an 8 x 8 baking dish.
  • 2. With a mandoline slice the potatoes to about 1/8 inch thick. Add the remaining butter and half and half into a saucepan. Add the thyme, salt , pepper, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil and add the potatoes and cook 1 minute. Pour into the baking dish.
  • 3. Bake about 30 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender. Top with the cheese and bake another 10 minutes.
