Sausage Apple Stuffing image

This was a very nice alternative to traditional stuffing. We tried this for Thanksgiving.

Number Of Ingredients 10

5 cup(s) seasoned stuffing cubes
1 pound(s) sausage
1 - large onion chopped
1 - large apple peeled and choppedd
1 - rib of celery chopped
2 tablespoon(s) butter
1 cup(s) pecans
1/2 tablespoon(s) sage
1 1/4 cup(s) chicken broth
- salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • preheat oven to 325
  • put stuffing in a large bowl and set aside. cook sausage in a large skillet until sausage is no longer pink. drain excess oil.
  • cook diced apple and onion in butter until softened. Mix apple mixture and sausage in with the stuffing.
  • stir in broth, nuts, salt, pepper and sage. toss to coat.
  • transfer to greased 3 quart baking dish.
  • cover and bake at 325 for 30 minutes. uncover and bake 10 minutes longer or until lightly browned.
