Ruth's Dotted Swiss Cake image

Flecks of chocolate in the batter make this cake really luscious.

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 cup(s) flour, sifted
3 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1-1/4 cup(s) sugar
1/2 cup(s) butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup(s) milk
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1/2 teaspoon(s) orange extract
2 squares (2 ounces) shaved semi-sweet or german's chocolate

Steps:

  • Combine dry ingredients. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, beating well after each egg.
  • Combine milk, vanilla and orange extract. Add alternately with the dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Blend well after each addition. Blend in shaved chocolate.
  • Put batter into 2- greased 8 inch or 9 inch layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool; frost with a chocolate cream cheese frosting.
