Steps:
- 1. Prepare the red pepper sauce, if using. Then, in a medium saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic. Cook, stirring, until the onion is softened, about 3 minutes. Add the potato, peas, broth, crushed red pepper, and salt. Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, 8 to 10 minutes. 2. Transfer the soup to a blender or food processor and purée until smooth. Return the soup to the pan and bring to a boil, uncovered, over medium-low heat, stirring frequently until steaming hot, 3 to 4 minutes.
