President Reagan's Favorite Macaroni and Cheese. image

Found this recipe in a cookbook I got in a box of books from an auction. Love to browse through cookbooks young and old.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 lb macaroni
1 Tbsp butter
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard
1 Tbsp hot water
1 c milk
3 c sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • 1. Cook macaroni in boiling water until tender and drain thoroughly.
  • 2. Stir in butter and egg. Mix salt and mustard with hot water. Add to milk.
  • 3. Add cheese, reserving enough to sprinkle over top. Pour macaroni into buttered casserole. Add milk-cheese mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • 4. Bake at 350 about 45 minutes or until casserole is set and top is crusty.
