Peach Cobbler image

Think this recipe came from my grandma, my mom and I have been making it for years. My mom has a peach tree in her yard and we have lots of fun picking peaches, freezing them and of course, making lots of peach cobblers! Family favorite!

Number Of Ingredients 16

5 c sliced, peeled, peaches ( about 3 lbs)
1/2 c sugar
2 Tbsp flour
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter
BATTER
1/2 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1 egg, slightly beaten

Steps:

  • 1. Make filling: In medium bowl, combine peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tbsp. of flour, lemon juice, vanilla and almond extracts, cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 cup of water. Turn into 13 by 9 baking dish. Dot with 2 tbsp. of butter.
  • 2. In medium bowl, combine all batter ingredients; beat with wooden spoon until smooth. Drop in 6 portions over filling, spacing evenly, batter will spread during baking.
  • 3. Bake at 350 degrees, for 35 to 40 minutes of until peaches are tender and crust is golden. Can be served warm with vanilla ice cream.
