Party Meatballs image

My mom passed away in 2008 but left behind this recipe which she frequently made for parties.

Number Of Ingredients 12

MEATBALLS:
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 c coarse bread crumbs
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c milk
2 Tbsp cooking oil
SAUCE:
1 12 oz. bottle chili sauce
1 10 oz. jar grape jelly
1 1/2 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Combine beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, egg and milk.
  • 2. Shape into 3/4-inch balls and chill 2 hours.
  • 3. Take out of refrigerator and place in a shallow pan with the oil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 min.
  • 4. Prepare sauce by combining chili sauce, jelly and water in a small saucepan.
  • 5. Bring to a boil.
  • 6. Meantime, drain excess oil from meatballs, cover with sauce and bake an additional 30 min.
  • 7. Spoon meatballs into a chafing dish and serve with toothpicks.
