Party Essentials: The Ultimate Chicken Dip image

Had my first holiday open house yesterday, and I always like to make tasty finger foods to put on the sideboards. I put this simple dip together out of some rotisserie chickens I had made, and it was so popular, I thought it needed posting. So, you ready... Let's get into the kitchen. Happy Holidays.

Number Of Ingredients 10

PLAN/PURCHASE
1 pound(s) chicken, more on this later
4 ounce(s) cream cheese
2 tablespoon(s) parmesan cheese, freshly grated
1 - 2 tablespoon(s) dijon mustard, i prefer grey poupon
1 - 2 tablespoon(s) hot sauce, i prefer frank's
1 - 2 dash(es) lemon juice, freshly squeezed
sour cream, as needed
salt, kosher variety, to taste
black pepper, freshly ground, to taste

Steps:

  • PREP/PREPARE
  • You will need a skillet or saucepan to make this recipe.
  • The type of chicken you use is up to you; however, it must be precooked and shredded.
  • Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • Add the shredded, precooked chicken to a skillet or pan.
  • Add the cream cheese, set the burner to low, low, and allow the cream cheese to soften and melt, about 20 minutes.
  • When melted, stir in the parmesan cheese, mustard, hot sauce, and lemon juice. Then add the sour cream, a bit at a time until you have a soft dippable consistency. I usually add 3 - 4 tablespoons.
  • Add some salt and pepper, to taste.
  • PLATE/PRESENT
  • Serve with sturdy chips or toast points. Enjoy.
  • Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
