Passed down from my Grandma Ette, this slice cookie is great with a warm cup of coffee or hot tea. (some people like to dunk them)

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1-3/4 c melted crisco, (i use butter flavored)
1 c sugar
1-1/4 c brown sugar
4 eggs
5 c flour
1 Tbsp baking soda
1 Tbsp salt
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 c pecans, finely chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Blend all ingredients in a stand mixer. Note: add the flour gradually. (you can mix all by hand, but it gets really hard once all flour is added)
  • 2. Firmly shape into two loaves. Cover with wax paper and plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight.
  • 3. Thinly slice cookies. Place on parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 10 minutes. (I lowered the temperature 10 degrees in my oven since I felt they were browning too quickly)
