ORANGE POPPYSEED CAKE image

2 3/4 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs, lg or xlg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsps baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsps poppyseeds
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 tsp. orange zest
GLAZE
1 cup confectioner's sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 tsp almond extract

Steps:

  • Oven at 350. Grease Bundt pan. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and poppyseeds in large bowl. Set aside. Cream sugar and oil together. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flavorings and zest. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Batter will be very loose. Pour into prepared pan, and bake l hour 15 min. or until tester comes out clean. Cool in pan until just warm. Make glaze by whisking all ingredients together. Brush glaze on warm cake until absorbed.
