Steps:
- In a small pot, heat the water, zest and 1/4 cup of the sugar over medium heat until sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes. Add the butter and stir until melted. Set aside. In a medium bowl, mix together the all-purpose and whole-wheat flours, wheat germ, baking powder, baking soda, salt, almonds, poppy seeds and remaining sugar. Set aside. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, yogurt, milk and zest mixture until smooth. Add liquid gradually to dry ingredients and blend to form a soft dough. Pour the mixture into a greased and floured 8.5-by-4.5-inch loaf pan and bake in a 350 degree F oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean. Remove from oven and let the loaf cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Remove from pan and leave on a rack until completely cooled. NOTE - needs more sugar, I used orange juice and not water. Nice & moist though.
