My favorite Chili Recipe image

I make chili many different ways, but this is my favorite go to recipe that I learned from my grandmother Swecker. She never wrote it down, I just watched her make it and paid attention to detail. I have changed it a bit over the years.

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 lb lean ground beef
1 large onion, diced
1 large green pepper, diced
3 clove garlic, diced
2 ribs of celery, fixed
6 c tomato juice
1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
2 14.5 oz of fire roasted tomatoes
2 Tbsp medium heat chili powder
1 tsp chipotle powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 small bag of pinto beans cooked or 4 cans rinsed

Steps:

  • 1. Brown ground beef, when cooked add green peppers and onions and simmer for 10 minutes until tender.
  • 2. Rinse Pinto beans and place into a large dutch oven.
  • 3. Add all other ingredients to the pinto beans and simmer for 90 minutes so that the flavors combine. Enjoy!
