1 cup simple syrup
3 whole star anises
2 cinnamon sticks
1 cup brandy
2 cups orange juice
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1 lime, sliced, plus more for garnish
1 bottle red wine, spanish red wine, such as Rioja

Steps:

  • In a large pot over medium-low heat or a slow cooker, combine the simple syrup, star anise, cinnamon sticks, brandy, orange juice, orange, lemon, lime, and red wine.
  • Stir well, cover, and simmer over low heat for at least 20 minutes, until warmed through.
  • Ladle the sangria into mugs and garnish with lime wedges.
  • Enjoy!
