This is a recipe that my mother used to make. I switched out the green bell peppers for red bell peppers as I find the taste mellower and easier to digest. I enjoy a bit of background heat so I used the cayenne or aleppo peppers. I also use my own home canned crushed tomatoes. I sometimes serve it over spaghetti squash instead...

Steps:
- 1. Brown the hamburger, add the onion and saute until clear. add the garlic and saute until fragrant. Add the red wine, saute until it cooks down and the alcohol evaporates.
- 2. Add the crushed tomatoes, the tomato paste, and the water. At this point I place everything in a crock pot.
- 3. Add the spices, salt, sugar, and dried red peppers. Simmer on high for 30 minutes, then set on the low setting for 5-6 hours.
