Moms Sauce Icing image

When I was growing up..my Mom would make a yellow cake and then she would make this sauce like icing on the stove. She would pour this WARM Sauce over each individual piece of cake. We kids loved it...STILL DO! So ..I thought I would share it with you.....

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cup(s) sugar
1 can(s) pet evaporated milk (12 oz size)
3 - egg yokes (beaten)
1/4 stick(s) butter or margarine

Steps:

  • Mix the milk and sugar until sugar in a Saucepan until it's dissolved
  • add the beaten eggs an butter ingredients and mix thoroughly
  • Cook on medium to medium high heat ... stirring continuously until slightly thick. Remember..this is a "sauce"..so it needs to be a consistency that will allow you to pour it over a piece of cake
