3 eggs
1 c molasses
2 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 c boiling water

CREAM CHEESE ICING
8 oz cream cheese
1/4 c butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
1 c powdered sugar

Steps:

  • 1. In a mixing bowl cream butter with sugar, beating with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add molasses and blend well. In another bowl combine flour, salt, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon; stir well. Slowly add flour and spice mixture to creamed mixture, beating at low speed. Bake at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
