This delicious cross between brownies and chocolate cake was served at a company potluck, and was unsurprisingly completely devoured. I begged for the recipe, which is faithfully reproduced here. Enjoy this obscure but delightful southern secret!

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 300°, and grease 9x12 inch pan.
- 2. Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs.
- 3. Sift flour, cocoa, and salt.
- 4. Add flour mixture to shortening, then add walnuts, mix well.
- 5. Pour mixture into pan, and bake for 35 min.
- 6. Icing: Use double boiler to melt butter and cocoa; add evaporated milk, and powdered sugar.
- 7. Cook icing on medium heat, stirring intermittently until smooth, then turn down to low and let simmer while cake is baking.
- 8. Remove cake from oven, spread marshmallows on top, and bake an additional 20 min.
- 9. Add vanilla to icing, stir until well mixed. Add walnuts and stir until well mixed.
- 10. Put icing on cake immediately upon removal and cover marshmallows completely.
