Maraschino Cherry Cookie Bars image

A different spin on the cookie bars. Really sweet and yummy.

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 1/4 cup(s) flour
1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 cup(s) butter room temp
2 large eggs
1 cup(s) brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
12 ounce(s) jar maraschino cherries drained with juice reserved and chopped
1/2 cup(s) chopped pecans
1/2 stick(s) butter softened
1 1/2 cup(s) powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly. Press into a 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Blend eggs, brown sugar, salt, baking powder and vanilla. Stir in chopped cherries and nuts. Put on top of crust and bake 25 minutes. let cool.
  • Mix the 1/2 stick of butter with powdered sugar and add reserved cherry liquid until drizzling consistency is reached. Drizzle over top of cake and cut into bars.
