Mamma's Cabbage Patch Stew image

My Mom used to make a stew similar to this one. She didn't use kidney beans in hers. Since I have some picky eaters in my house I will use my mamma's recipe. I love this and its so simple.I like serving it with slices of Cheese and a dollop of sour cream. Hope you enjoy this.

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 pound(s) extra lean ground beef
1 large onion,chopped
1 cup(s) celery, diced
3 cup(s) cabbage, finely shredded
2 cup(s) water
2 tablespoon(s) worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoon(s) chili powder
2 teaspoon(s) salt
2 tablespoon(s) sugar
1 can(s) stewed tomatoes, cut up, 14.5 oz
1 pound(s) cheddar cheese,sliced
1 pint(s) sour cream
1 can(s) kidney beans, optional, 8oz

Steps:

  • Brown the meat in a large skillet; drain. Add onions, celery, and cabbage; cook until wilted. Add water, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and sugar. Add tomatoes and then beans if desired.Cook and cover for 30 minutes. Serve with Cheddar Cheese and Sour Cream.
