Make your own Self rising flour & Caster Sugar image

These are great ways to make your own when in a pinch. I have used both methods in place of the store bought Rising Flour and Caster sugar.

Number Of Ingredients 6

CASTER SUGAR
1 1/2 cup(s) granulated sugar
SELF RISING FLOUR
1 cup(s) all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt

Steps:

  • Caster sugar- place sugar in a food processor. Blend until the sugar becomes fine. It should take 2 minutes. Do not over process or you will have powdered sugar. I find that 11/2 cups of sugar makes 1 cup of fine Caster sugar.
  • Self Rising flour- combine all ingredients together well. If recipe calls for sifted flour. Just sift as normal.
  • Note: self-rising flour has added salt, baking soda, and baking powder. For 2 cups of plain flour Add > 1/8 tsp of salt 2 tsp of baking powder 1 tsp of baking soda If you do not have baking powder, For 2 cups of plain flour Add> 1/8 tsp of salt 2 tsp of baking soda If you do not have baking soda, For 2 cups of plain flour Add > 1/8 tsp of salt 3 tsp of baking soda Be sure you sift the ingredients together tsp
