Kathy's Cuban Sandwich image

I've taken the classic Cuban sandwich recipe and added a few twists to it. I hope you enjoy it! Note: you can you any type of sandwich or panini press. If you don't have a press, you can do it in a skillet and press down on the sandwich with another weighted skillet.

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 12-inch cuban bread baguette (or 2 slices of white bread)
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
1 Tbsp hellman's mayonnaise
1 tsp diced pimento (or to taste)
1 Tbsp tomato sauce
2 slice ham
2 slice roasted pork
2 slice swiss cheese
2-3 slice dill pickle, thin sliced

Steps:

  • 1. Get your press ready (can use a panini press) - buttering or oiling so it won't stick - and heat it up.
  • 2. Spread the butter and mayo on one slice of bread. Spread mustard and tomato sauce on the other slice of bread.
  • 3. Lay 1 slice of cheese on the bottom slice, then layer with the ham, roast pork, and pimento. Top with 1 more slice of cheese. Put the other slice of bread on top (condiments faced inward).
  • 4. Put the sandwich on the press and press down firmly to desired thickness and wait until the press light turns green (or when bread is flattened, toasted, and cheese has melted.
  • 5. Take the finished sandwich off of the press. Slice in half and enjoy!
