Jan's Chop Suey Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Number Of Ingredients 13

1-1/2 to 2 lbs. chop suey meat (mix of pork & beef)
1 C. chopped celery
1 C. chopped onion
2 Tbls. bead molasses
2 Tbls. soy sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Accent
1 lrg. can chop suey vegies, undrained
1 4-oz. can mushrooms, undrained
1 15-oz. can cut baby corn (optional)
Cooked rice
Chow Mein noodles (optional)
Extra soy sauce (optional)

Steps:

  • Cook celery and onion in a large kettle with a little bit of water until tender. Add meat and brown. Add molasses, soy sauce, salt and Accent. Add complete cans of chop suey vegies and mushrooms (and baby corn, if desired) Add one large can water (use chop suey vegie can) Simmer up to 2 hours. Thicken with 2-4 Tbls. corn starch (mixed with a little water) Serve over rice. Sprinkle with Chow Mein noodles and extra soy sauce, if desired.
