JAM THUMBPRINTS image

Yield 3 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 7

2/3 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
1 teasp vanilla
1/2 teasp salt
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add egg yolks, vanilla and salt; beat well. Add sifted flour, mixing well. Shape into 3/4 inch balls; dip in slightly beaten egg whites, then roll in nuts. Place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet. Press down center of each with thumb. Bake at 350* for 15-17 minutes. Cool slightly; remove from pan and cool on rack. Just before serving, use cherry or strawberry perserves to fill centers of cookies.
