Jack-O'-Crispies image

Halloween Rice Krispies® jack-o'-lanterns. Fun little recipe I made for my kid's school halloween dance. Got lots of compliments from the kids and teachers.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 tablespoons butter
6 cups miniature marshmallows
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 drops orange food coloring, or as needed
4 cups crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies®), or more to taste
6 pieces green licorice string, or as needed
1 (.75 ounce) package green fruit roll-up (such as General Mills® Fruit Roll-Ups)
1 (.75 ounce) tube black decorating gel

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and vanilla extract. Stir in food coloring. Add rice cereal, 1 cup at a time, stirring after each addition, until blended. Scoop out mixture and shape into small pumpkins using buttered hands.
  • Cut string candy into stems and cut fruit roll-up into leaves. Decorate pumpkins while still soft. Let cool completely, at least 20 minutes. Draw faces onto pumpkins using decorating gel.
