IRISH COFFEE at The SHANNON AIRPORT in IRELAND image

Since it's introduction at the Shannon Airport, in the late 70's this recipe has become an international favorite. It makes a VERY satisfying drink. How could they go wrong, using Irish whiskey!! I cut out this recipe from a magazine in 1977. Back then I did not save the magazine,or had the internet,so I do not know which one it...

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1-1/2 tsp sugar
1 jigger irish whiskey = (1-1/2 oz.)
hot, strong black coffee
chilled whipped cream
1 heated , stemmed, clear irish whiskey glass

Steps:

  • 1. In a heated glass stir in the whiskey and the sugar. Pour in the hot coffee to within 1 inch from the top. Then top with the whipped cream. Do not stir. Makes 1 serving. Sorry about the picture...I had to install a new battery to my camera, and the whipped cream started to melt. It still tasted good! Sit back sip and enjoy!
