INDIAN FRY BREAD BY JANET image

This fry bread is easy to make. Goes will with all kinds of soup, stews and my favorite macaroni and tomato juice.

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 cup(s) sifted flour
4 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1 teaspoon(s) salt
2 teaspoon(s) shortening
- enough milk to make it the consistency of biscuit dough

Steps:

  • Sift flour with baking powder. Mix in shortening.
  • Add enough milk to make a dough the consistency of biscuits.
  • Kneed the dough well as for yeast bread, Divide dough in half and roll each to the size of a pie crust. It will be thicker than pie crust.
  • Cut each half into four pieces. Fry it in an iron skillet in hot melted fat, at least four inches deep.
