~ Honey Nut Acorn Squash ~ image

I made these beautiful squash as one of my sides for Thanksgiving and were and they were an absolute hit at the feast. Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 8

INGREDIENTS ARE FOR 1 SQUASH. DOUBLE INGREDIENTS FOR EACH ADDED SQUASH YOU MIGHT USE.
1 medium acorn squash
1/8 c honey
1 1/2 Tbsp butter, melted
1 1/2 Tbsp chopped walnuts or pecans
1 Tbsp raisins - optional
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
salt & fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F. Split your squash in half, from stem to point at the other end. Place the squash face up in a shallow casserole dish. Leave seeds and membrane. Bake for 45 minutes or until tender.
  • 2. Remove squash from oven and once cool enough,, scoop out the seeds and membrane. In a small dish, mix the honey, butter Worcestershire sauce, nuts and raisins.
  • 3. With a pastry brush, brush the inside and rim of squash with honey mixture. and divide the nuts and raisins between the halves. Sale and pepper. Bake for another 10 - 12 minutes or until glazed and golden.
  • 4. Serve hot. They make a pretty presentation.
