Homemade Flan image

I successfully made my first homemade Flan on the first try tonight . I made my Homemade chicken Enchiladas with this as well, you can find that recipe on my Kitchen list of recipes. Hope you give both recipes a try, you wont be disappointed. Enjoy...

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 large eggs
1 cup(s) sugar
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1/4 cup(s) water
1 can(s) evaporated milk 14 oz
1 can(s) condensed milk 12 oz
1 box(es) 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature

Steps:

  • In a heavy saucepan, cook and stir sugar and water over medium-high heat until boiling,once boiling reduce to medium -low heat and let stand **DONT NOT MIX** til sugar turns dark brown, about 15 minutes. Careful not to burn. Quickly pour into an ungreased pie pan or souffle dish, tilting to coat the bottom; let stand for 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until thoroughly combined. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour over caramelized sugar.
  • Place the dish in a larger baking pan. Pour boiling water into larger pan to a depth of 1 in. Bake at 350° for 50-60 minutes or until center is just set (mixture will jiggle)
  • Remove dish from a larger pan to a wire rack; cool for 1 hour. Refrigerate overnight. Place a plate over the top of the pie pan, and quickly flip onto the plate, slice like a pie and serve. Enjoy
