Holiday Basted Yams image

This is a old family recipe from South Dakota. Butter and brown sugar makes this a Holiday only dish. I double this recipe for Christmas dinner.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup(s) white sugar
1/2 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup(s) water
1/4 cup(s) butter
1 can(s) pineapple juice, unsweetened
1 can(s) yams, drained

Steps:

  • Melt butter and add both sugars and water(I drain the canned pineapple and use it for part of the water measurement). Boil. While waiting for first 4 ingedients to boil, arrange drained pineapple and drained canned yams into casserole pan. Pour boiled mix over pineapple and yams. Bake uncovered for 45 mins. Baste 2-3 times.
