Number Of Ingredients 13

1 pound ground beef
1 onion medium, finely chopped
1 clove garlic minced (optional)
3 1/4 cups water
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon oregano crushed
1 teaspoon cumin seed
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce Tabasco
1/4 cup long grain rice uncooked
1 package corn chip, 11 1/2 ounce package

Steps:

  • In large skillet cook together ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef loses its color and onion is soft drain off excess fat. Add remaining ingredients except corn chips cover and simmer 20 minutes. Serve over corn chips with a variety of garnishes, which may include sour cream, grated Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese, sliced ripe olives, sliced green onion, diced avocado, and diced green pepper.
