Harvest Bread image

I love this bread, the spices, the raisins and pumpkin. A little glaze on top ! Recipe was taken from St. Joseph The Worker Church Cookbook in Hanson, MA. Unknown who submitted by.

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 cup(s) all purpose flour
1 1/2 cup(s) white sugar
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
3/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/2 cup(s) crisco oil
2 - eggs
1/2 can(s) pumpkin (1 cup)
1/3 cup(s) water
1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon(s) allspice
1/2 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon(s) cloves
1/2 cup(s) raisin, and or walnuts. or chocolate chips or a little of each.

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients and mix well and bake in a greased loaf pan for 1 hour in a 350 degree oven. Could use 4 small pans 6 x 3 1/2 x 2 can be used but only bake 40 minutes. Make nice little gift loaves.
  • GLAZE (OPTIONAL) Spiced Glaze : Combine 1/2 C confectioners sugar, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Blend 1-2 tsp of cream or milk until the consistency of a glaze and spread over baked loaf.
