Greek Burgers image

Capture the flavor of gyros in these Greek-inspired beef burgers served in pita breads. They're a fun change from the typical hamburger and just as quick to grill!

1 lb lean (at least 90%) ground beef
1/2 cup crumbled herb-flavored feta cheese (2 oz)
1/4 cup chopped kalamata olives
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano leaves
2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint leaves
4 pita (pocket) breads (6 inch), cut in half to form pockets
1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
4 thin slices red onion, cut in half
1 medium tomato, sliced
1/4 cup Greek Fat Free plain yogurt

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix beef, cheese, olives, oregano and mint. Shape mixture into 4 patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 10 to 12 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.
  • Cut burgers in half. Fill each pita pocket with burger half, cucumber, onion and tomato slices; drizzle with yogurt.
