GRANNY'S SUGAR COOKIES image

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour (if doubling, cut down flour amount slightly)
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
Glaze:
10x sugar
water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter and sugar together. Beat in egg. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt and add to batter. Add vanilla and mix well. Chill dough for a few minutes. Not too long,dough will get hard. Roll out dough and cut with cookie cutters. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cookie should be very lightly brown. Glaze: Mix 10x sugar with water to make a glaze that is not too runny. You can color the glaze or decorate with colored sugars.
