Granny's Sour Cream Cookies image

Betty's recipe box is a hive of old recipes. I'm trying to sort and preserve them for my kids. The desserts sure seem to out number the rest. She had a sweet tooth.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 c soft shortening ( such as crisco)
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
2 3/4 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Steps:

  • 1. Mix: shortening and sugar, stir in eggs, sour cream, and vanilla.
  • 2. Sift in flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  • 3. Grease cookie sheet. Place about a teaspoon of dough on sheet about 2" apart. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until lightly brown. For a butterscotch flavor use 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of white sugar. For holidays use icing, sprinkles and nuts to top cookies.
