Granny's Nut Pie image

My Grandmother was born in 1895...she got this from someone after she married. So, I don't know how old it is. Sour Cream is sub for clabbered milk. And she always used Watkins vanilla.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup(s) dark grapes (raisins) that have been soaked in 1/2 c. hot water.
1 cup(s) chopped hickory or english walnuts (1/2 cup if using black walnuts)
1 cup(s) sugar
1 cup(s) sour cream
3 eggs - separated, and whites beaten to stiff peak
1 teaspoon(s) watkins vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat egg whites and set aside til needed. Beat egg yokes a little, then add to raisins, chopped nuts, sugar,and sour cream. Stir good and add vanilla. Fold in the egg whites and use this mixture to fill a pie crust.
  • Bake until crust is nicely browned, about 30 min.
