Grandma's Stollen image

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 cups scalded milk
1 packages yeast
7.5 cups flour
3 units eggs
1 cups sugar
1 teaspoons salt
1 cups butter
0.5 cups candied citron
0.5 cups candied cherries
0.5 cups raisins
1 units lemon

Steps:

  • Scald milk, and then cool. Add yeast to 1/4 cup warm water, let stand 5 minutes. Add yeast mixture to milk. Stir in 1 1/2 cups flour, keep warm until bubbly.
  • Blend in beaten eggs, sugar, salt, and melted butter. Add fruits dredged with ¼ cup flour and juice of 1 lemon. Sift 5 3/4 cups flour and add.
  • Knead on floured board. Put in greased bowl and let rise until doubled. Punch down and form*. Let rise.
  • Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes.
