This is a chili recipe my grandmother always made, and has been handed down through the generations. It's more of a chili soup, than chili beans. Very warming, wholesome, and good on a snow day! Number Of Ingredients 12

1 large onion (chopped)
3 or 4 stalks celery (chopped)
2 lb hamburger meat
1 16 oz. can chili beans
1 15.5 oz. red kidney beans
2 15 oz. cans of tomato sauce
2 14.5 oz. diced or stewed tomatoes
2 or 3 tbs. chili powder
salt and pepper (generously)
10 c water
1/2 lb or 1/2 (small) box of spaghetti
GRANDMA'S CHILI

Steps:

  • 1. saute chopped onion and celery in small amount of water until tender.
  • 2. Add hamburger meat, salt and pepper generously. Cook til browned.
  • 3. Add remaining ingredients EXCEPT spaghetti.
  • 4. Bring 'soup' to a boil. Add spaghetti noodles by breaking them up into 1/3's. Should be about 4 inches in length. Let come to a second boil and cook until spaghetti noodles are tender. About 10 mins.
  • 5. Serve with oyster crackers or saltines.
