Grandma's BBQ Hamburgers image

Number Of Ingredients 14

1.5 pounds Hamburger
.75 cup Evaporate Milk
.5 cup Bread Crumbs
1 Egg
.25 teaspoon Pepper
2 tablespoons Chopped Onion
1.5 teaspoons Salt
2 cups Ketchup
6 tablespoons Vinegar
.75 cup Chopped Onion
.25 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
2 Bay Leaf
1 teaspoon Dry Mustard

Steps:

  • Combine hamburger, evaporated milk, bread crumbs, egg, pepper, salt, and 1.5 tsp salt
  • Form mixture into .25 pound patties
  • Brown patties well and place into casserole dish
  • For sauce: Combine ketchup, vinegar, .75 cup chopped onions, sugar, water, bay leaves, and dry mustard in saucepan.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes
  • Remove bay leaf
  • Pour over hamburgers.
  • Cover hamburgers and bake at 300 for 60-90 minutes
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate and reheat later (if refrigerating, be sure to replace foil cover with plastic to avoid corroding the foil)
