Number Of Ingredients 13

1 cup(s) shortening
1 1/2 cup(s) sugar ( dark brown or white sugar)
2 - eggs
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon(s) cloves
1/2 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
1 cup(s) raisins
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1 cup(s) walnut pieces
2 cup(s) oatmeal
2 cup(s) white or whole wheat flour

Steps:

  • Cream first 8 items Optional One cup raisins ( bring these to a boil in just enough water to cover them. Drain raisins and save 1/2 cup water to the raisin water add 1 teaspoon baking soda and stir until disolved. add this to the above creamed items also add 2 cups oatmeal and 2 cups flour a little at a time until disolved.. Nuts are optional about 1 cup works well these don't spread much so scoop about an ice cream scoop is a good amount per cookie. Bake at 350 for 10 to 15 minutes until slightly brown on edges. I sprinkle with colored sugar for the holidays.
