GRANDMA GEHRINGS CHOCOLATE CHIFFON PIE image

2 1 Oz squares unsweetened Chocolate
1/2 Cup boiling water
1 Tbsp unflavored gelatine
1/4 Cup cold water
4 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
4 Stiff beaten egg whites
9 Inch baked shell

Steps:

  • Melt chocolate in boiling water; add gelatine, softened in cold water; Stir until dissolved. Add egg yolks, beaten light with 1/2 cup of sugar. Add salt and Vanilla extract. Beat remaining 1/2 cup sugar into egg whites. Fold into chocolate mixture. Pour into baked shell. Chill until firm. Spread with sweetened, whipped cream.
