Grammy's Chocolate Mint Bars image

These were a staple at almost every Sunday dinner at my Grammy's house when I was younger. Every time I bake them, the aroma takes me back to a wonderful place :)

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 c sugar
1 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c butter
4 beaten eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 can 16 oz hershey syrup
MINT MIX
2 c confectioner's sugar
1/2 c butter
2 Tbsp creme de menthe liquor (the green variety is more fun )
FOR GLAZE
6 oz chocolate chips (milk or semi sweet)
6 Tbsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. Mix cake batter and pour into greased 9x13 pan and bake for at 350 for 25-30 min. (cake will fall to brownie ht)Cool in pan
  • 2. Mix ingredients for for mint mix and spread on cooled cake. Refrigerate cake for approx 1 hr
  • 3. For Glaze: melt chocolate and butter together. Refrigerate until cool, but spreadable. Spread over mint mixture on cake. Refrigerate overnight before cutting into small squares
  • 4. ENJOY!!!! :)
