How to make GOLDEN ONION CASSEROLE

Number Of Ingredients 11

6 med. white onions, sliced
1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. chicken bouillon grains
3/4 lb. Swiss cheese, shredded
4 tbsp. melted butter
3/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
1/4 c. cooking sherry
1 sm. loaf French bread, cut into 1/2 inch slices

Steps:

  • Saute onions in 1/2 cup butter. Transfer to 2 quart shallow baking dish.
  • Melt 4 teaspoons butter. Add 1/4 cup flour and mix with whisk. Add salt, milk, pepper, bouillon.
  • Add cooking sherry. Pour over onions
  • Top with shredded cheese, then bread rounds which have been dipped into melted butter.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bread is brown.
