Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 1/2 c all-purpose flour
4 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 c shortening
2 c sugar
2 Tbsp light cream
2 eggs
1/2 c molasses
3/4 c sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 350 degrees. In a medium bowl stir together with a whisk the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl beat shortening, sugar, cream, eggs and molasses on low speed until well blended. Add dry mixture, a little at a a time on low speed, mix until blended.
  • 2. I sometimes make giant cookies using an ice cream scoop, spray the inside. If not I use a heaped table spoon. Place remaining sugar in a shallow plate. Drop dough by scoopfuls or spoonfuls onto sugar, Roll, coat well. then place on cookie sheet. If I am making with ice cream scoop, I do six per pan, otherwise I do twelve. Bake 11-13 min, do not over bake. You want these chewy and soft!
  • 3. I use my KitchenAid mixer to make these with little mess and a lot of saved time!
