Ginger Berry Compote image

I make this dessert in the spring and summertime, and it's always a big hit. Serve it over angel food cake, ice cream or even over yogurt for breakfast. Delicious! -Rebecca Cattell, Indianapolis, Indiana

Yield 20 servings (1-1/4 cups).

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 packages (12 ounces each) frozen unsweetened mixed berries
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon minced fresh gingerroot or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon grated orange zest

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat until berries have softened and released their juices, 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve warm or refrigerate and serve cold.
