GARLIC CHEESE GRITS image

Grits isn't just for breakfast anymore. This baked casserole, with plenty of garlic, is one of my favorite treats. So tasty! 10-18/2018

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 c quick grits
1/2 tsp salt
4 c boiling water
1 stick butter, melted
6 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese, plus 2 oz.
1/2 c milk
2 eggs, beaten
1 large clove garlic, minced
salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350ยบ.
  • 2. Stir the grits into the boiling water in a large saucepan.
  • 3. Reduce heat and cook, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • 4. Stir in 6 oz. cheese, eggs, butter, milk, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • 5. When cheese has melted, pour the mixture into a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Bake for 1 hour.
  • 6. Add remaining 2 oz. cheese on top, return to oven for 5 minutes until cheese has melted and turning golden.
