Fruit Salad With Pretzel Topping image

This pretzel topping is so good, I use it for other dessert toppings as well. This is a wonderful fruit salad.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 cups pretzels, broken into small pieces
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar
2 (3 1/2 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups whipped topping, thawed
8 ounces pineapple, crushed, drained well
2 (11 ounce) cans mandarin oranges, crushed, drained well

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 and line a jelly roll pan with foil.
  • For topping:.
  • Place broken pretzels on pan.
  • Mix melted butter and brown sugar together.
  • Dump over pretzels.
  • Stir until well coated.
  • Bake 5 minutes.
  • Cool and break apart.
  • For salad:.
  • Mix pudding and buttermilk together in large bowl.
  • Fold in whipped topping, pineapple and mandarin oranges.
  • Cover top of salad with pretzel topping just before serving.
