Base:
1 cup butter 250 ml
3 cups flour 750 ml
1 1/2 tsp. Baking powder 7 ml
1 egg (slightly beaten) 1 ml
1 cup milk 250 ml
1/2 tsp. Salt 2 ml
Crumbs:
1/2 cup butter 125 ml
1 cup sugar 250 ml
1 1/4 cup flour 310 ml
1/2 tsp. Vanilla 2 ml

Steps:

  • Set oven at 375F (190C) and prepare cookie sheet. For base-combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Combine milk and egg and add to first mixture. Spread on cookie sheet. Top with fresh or frozen fruit.( Rhubarb, apples, apricots, peach slices, blueberries, or plumes.) With a pastry blender, cut butter into sugar, flour, and vanilla to make a fine crumb consistency. Sprinkle over fruit. Bake 35 - 40 min. until lightly brown.
