Frosted Banana Cookies image

Here is another one of my favorite banana cookies. Banana bread is my all time favorite, so this cookie is no exception. These are tasty little jewels. They are great any time of year. I like to make these as prt of my Christmas baking.

3/4 cup(s) butter, softened
3/4 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup(s) bananas mashed (about 2 medium)
1 large egg
2 teaspoon(s) sour cream, lite
2 1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
2 cup(s) all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
FROSTING
2 tablespoon(s) butter
3 tablespoon(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tablespoon(s) milk (or half & half)
1 1/4 cup(s) powdred sugar
1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1/8 teaspoon(s) cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl cream butter and brown sugar, beat until creamy. Add bananas, egg, sour cream and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed; add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, beat until well mixed.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2" apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool completely.
  • For the frosting, melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and half & half. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil, about a minute or 2. Remove from heat; add powdered sugar, vanilla and cinnamon; beat until mixed. Cool slightly. Frost cookies. Let stand until frosting is set.
