Steps:
- 1. In a large cast iron pan heat the bacon grease and the butter.
- 2. Add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt and water, mix well; bring pan to a boil over medium high heat, cover and let the apples steam for 5 - 6 minutes.
- 3. Lower the heat and remove the lid, continue frying until the apples are tender and the syrup looks like it is jelling.
- 4. Sprinkle with lemon juice, mix and pour into a serving dish, add a dab of butter on top and enjoy.
