Yummy peach dessert! This recipe was published in a collection of Texas recipes in 1984, and is really good if you like a lot of crust in your cobbler. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Decadent!

Steps:
- Melt butter in a 13 X 9 inch baking dish.
- Heat sugar and water in medium saucepan until sugar is disolved.
- Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles cornmeal.
- Add milk and stir with fork until dough leaves side of bowl.
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface or pastry cloth and knead only until smooth.
- Roll dough out to form a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Sprinkle cinnamon over the peaches and spread the mixture evenly over the dough.
- Roll dough up like a jelly roll.
- Dampen the edge of the dough to seal.
- Cut the roll into about 16 slices.
- Place the slices on edge in the pan of melted butter.
- Carefully pour sugar syrup around the rolls.
- This will look like too much liquid, but the crust will absorb it.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until most of the juice has been absorbed.
